How KDP works out your royalty
On Amazon's own stores you get 60% of the list price once the price reaches the marketplace's limit (for example $9.99 on Amazon.com), and 50% below it. Amazon then takes off the printing cost. With Expanded Distribution, sales through bookstores and libraries pay 40%.
Printing cost is a fixed amount per book plus an amount per page. Short black-ink books (up to 110 pages) pay the fixed amount only. Books wider than 6.12 in or taller than 9 in count as large trim and cost a little more. Bleed and the cover finish don't change the price.
Rates compared with KDP's help pages on . KDP changes its prices from time to time and may add tax on top of your list price in some marketplaces, so check the final figure in KDP's own pricing page before you publish.
